トモ都市美術館 – 都市をたずねる100「山手線の全駅前で乾杯！」- “Cheers at Every Yamanote Stop!”
3月22日（土）にトモ都市美術館企画で「山手線の全駅前で乾杯！」をやってみます。駅から出て、即座に何人かで過ごせる場所を探し、乾杯し、またすぐに山手線に乗る、というシンプルな行為を繰り返すことで、東京の真ん中の状況が少し見えてくるかもしれません。ちなみに2020年のトモ都市美術館のオープン以来続けてきた「都市をたずねる」も今回で100回となります！記念すべき回を祝福するとともに、街を違った視点で見なおしてみる機会となれば幸いです。山手線の全駅30駅で乗り降りすることになるので、都区内パス（大人：760円、 小児：380円）を買うのがお得です。同時開催でWHITEHOUSEでは「都市をたずねる」100回記念展 -「都市をたずねた100」として、記録写真や映像を展示中なので、新宿に戻ってから一緒に行きましょう。途中参加・離脱OK。誰も来なければ1人でやってみます！
On Saturday, March 22, as part of the TOMO City Museum project, we’re taking on a fun challenge—Cheers at Every Yamanote Stop! The plan is simple: step out of the station, find a spot where a few people can gather, make a toast, and then hop right back onto the train. By repeating this act at all 30 stations, we might get a fresh glimpse of what’s happening in the heart of Tokyo.
This event also marks the 100th edition of “Ask the City,” a series that has been running since TOMO City Museum opened in 2020. Let’s celebrate this milestone together while exploring the city from a new perspective!
Since we’ll be getting on and off at all 30 stations, we recommend purchasing a Tokyo Metropolitan Area Pass (760 yen for adults, 380 yen for children) for unlimited rides.
At the same time, WHITEHOUSE is hosting a special exhibition, “Asked the City 100”, showcasing records, photos, and videos from past editions of Ask the City. After finishing our journey, let’s head back to Shinjuku and check it out together! Feel free to join or leave at any point—if no one shows up, I’ll just do it alone!

予想の倍の時間となる6時間強の電車旅、お疲れさまでした。いや電車旅といいつつも、毎駅での上り下りや買い出し先やトイレ探しなど、めっちゃ運動を含んだ旅でした（途中疲労と酔いで座り込んでしまう人もいたけど、その人も最後までやり切ってて印象的でした）。普段絶対使わない駅で降りて、落ち着ける場所を探すというのは、街を舞台にゲームをしているみたいな気持ちで楽しかったです。大変な世界情勢のなかで公共の場で乾杯なんかしてる場合かという逡巡のなかではありましたが、長時間のツアーのなかではそのあたりの話題もみんなで話せたりしたので、結果よかったと思っています。WHITEHOUSEに戻ってからも朝まで多くの人が残っていろいろな話ができてよかった！今後「都市をたずねる」がどうなっていくかは自分にもわからないですが、これだけ参加してくれたり関心を持ってくれる人がいることがわかったので、何らかの形で続けていけたらと思っています。（トモトシ）
While the trip took over six hours—twice as long as expected—everyone’s effort was remarkable. Though some grew tired (or tipsy!) along the way, we made it to the end, turning station stops into a playful city adventure. The experience sparked not only fun but also deep discussions on topics like the Palestine-Israel and Ukraine-Russia wars amid the festive atmosphere. With such strong participation and enthusiasm, the future of “Ask the City” remains open-ended, but this event reaffirmed its value. Whether as a group or solo, we look forward to more ways to engage with the city. (Tomotosi)
