影に願いを / Wish Upon a Shadow
福島県富岡町の一地域は、原発事故の影響から、この先長期にわたって定住が難しいと言われています。住民が避難したこの地域には、津波で壊された駅舎が修繕されることなく残されています。 今作品では、その駅舎を利用している人たちの影を表現しました。影は実体がないとできません。 「人影がある」ということは、実際の「人がいる」ということになります。「人がいる」というイメージが可能性としての力を持ち、やがて現実がイメージに追いつくという日が来ることを願っています。
Some towns in Fukushima remain abandoned, still scarred by radiation contamination. Tomioka-cho is one such place, with its station left in ruins since the tsunami of 2011. In this work, I added the shadows of people to an image of the station. A shadow cannot exist without a presence. If there are shadows, there should be people. I hope that, one day, reality will follow imagination—and life will return.
