国際交流基金マニラ日本文化センターとTRA-TRAVELによるエクスチェンジプロジェクトに選出いただき、フィリピンのOrange Projectにて滞在制作できることになりました！
TRA-TRAVELゆかわさん、国際交流基金マニラ日本文化センター松田さん、Orange ProjectのCandyさんをはじめ、皆さまに感謝です。そしてこのプロジェクトに推薦いただいた木村絵理子さんに感謝です！そして英語企画書の監修をしてもらったエリザベスさんにも感謝！
レジデンスは10月半ばからの2ヵ月間。フィリピンのネグロス島にあるバコロドという街に滞在します。滞在の最後には成果発表なども予定されています。もし期間中にフィリピン近辺にいるって方がいれば合流しましょう。
初めての海外レジデンスですが、サポートがしっかりしているようなので思い切っていろいろチャレンジできたらと思っています。自分の活動を前進させ、フィリピンのアート界隈の人との繋がりができる滞在になれば！！楽しみ！ TRA-TRAVELのサイトより詳細が見れます。

11月8日、オレンジプロジェクトの屋外イベントスペースにて過去作のスクリーニングと現在制作中の作品について発表します！バコロドに滞在して3週間となり、当初のプランとはかなり違った方向に興味が向かっていますが、その経緯について話したいです。
On November 8, I’ll be screening past works and sharing my current project at Orange Project’s outdoor event space! After three weeks in Bacolod, my focus has shifted in unexpected ways, and I’d love to talk about how that happened.

僕が滞在を始める前は、フィリピンの歴史について特別に意識することはなかったです（むしろ食文化や産業について興味を持っていて、そのあたりを調べて発表する予定でした）。
ただバコロドに着いて数日後、友達になりたてのJanとIdaがThe Ruinsという遺構に連れて行ってくれてプランが変わりました。そこで聞いた話から、日本軍がここで行ってきたことに対して向き合わねばということを強く感じました。
それ以来、この場所に滞在するということや、この地域の人たちとコミュニケーションを取るということ自体をドキュメントするようになりました。そしてそれらを元にした表現を作品として発表したいと思うようになり、滞在終盤のResidency Outputでまとめて展示しました。作品を元に多くの議論が生まれて、自分にとって本当に素晴らしい機会となりました。
When I first arrived in the Philippines, I wasn’t particularly focused on its history—I was more interested in researching food culture and industry.
However, a few days into my stay in Bacolod, my plans shifted when my friends Jan and Ida took me to The Ruins. Hearing about its history, I felt a strong need to confront Japan’s past in this place.
From then on, I began documenting my time and interactions with the local community. This experience shaped my work, which I presented at Residency Output at the end of my stay in the Philipines. It was a meaningful opportunity that sparked many discussions.

もちろん滞在制作と発表だけではなく、数えきれないほどの会食と旅行と議論をした2ヵ月でもありました。Sir Charlie, Ms. Candy, Mr. Bongをはじめ、アーティスト、カルチュラルワーカー、実業家、カメラマン、歴史家、シェフ、、本当にたくさんの方と友達になれました。このよくわからない外国人を受け入れてくれ、信頼して、一緒に楽しんでくれた皆さんのおかげです！本当に感謝してます。 日本に戻った今も、せっかくできたこのコネクションを強めていきたいと思っています。バコロドで発表した作品を日本でも見てもらいたいし、再度フィリピンに行くことを画策したいし、日本にいるフィリピンのアーティストと交流したり、フィリピンの面白いアーティストを日本に誘ってみたりしたいです。
My two-month residency wasn’t just about creating and presenting work—it was also filled with countless dinners, trips, and discussions with incredible people: Sir Charlie, Ms. Candy, Mr. Bong, artists, cultural workers, businesspeople, photographers, historians, chefs, and many more. I’m grateful to everyone who welcomed me, trusted me, and shared their time with me. Now back in Japan, I want to keep building on these connections. I hope to show my Bacolod works here, return to the Philippines, connect with Filipino artists in Japan, and bring exciting Filipino artists to Japan in the future.
