つくばに別の指示を組み込む。/ Inserting another instruction in Tsukuba

2022年10月に茨城県つくば市中心市街地の公共空間(つくばセンター広場、ペデストリアンデッキ、松見公園、つくばセンタービル1階「co-en」イベントスペース、つくば市街)で開催されたHAM2022『パフォーマンス : わたしより大きなりんかくがみえる』におけるトモトシのアクションです。具体的には以下のような内容です。

１．最上階の安全柵にiPadを設置し、付属のカメラが映し出す景色を表示しておく
２．その映像をYouTubeで生配信
３．展望塔を訪れた人は、iPadの傾きを自由に振り、拡大縮小し、好きな場所を映す
４．トモトシは配信を手持ちの端末で見ながら、画面が象っている4辺を、映像内でなぞるように歩き続ける

つまり、展望塔からランダムに出された「指示」にトモトシが従い続けるというもの。そしてこのトモトシの挙動が、結果的に「つくばに別の指示を組み込む。」ことを目論んでいました。

HAM2022 – Performance: Inserting another instruction in Tsukuba

Held in October 2022 across public spaces in central Tsukuba City, Ibaraki, this performance by Tomotosi explored the interaction between surveillance, control, and movement.

The process:

1. An iPad was mounted on a safety fence at the top floor of a building, displaying a live feed from its attached camera.
2. The footage was broadcast live on YouTube.
3. Visitors at the observation tower could tilt, zoom, and control the view freely.
4. Tomotosi watched the live feed on his device and walked along the four sides of the projected image, tracing its movements.

By following unpredictable instructions from above, Tomotosi’s movements became an act of integrating external control into the city—transforming Tsukuba’s landscape into a site of remote choreography.
