都市をたずねる84 -「渡辺眸『1968新宿』再訪」“Revisiting WATANABE Hitomi’s ‘1968 SHINJUKU’”
84回目となる「都市をたずねる」。3月2日（土）は、「渡辺眸『1968新宿』再訪」をやってみます。『1968新宿』はそのタイトルから想像できますが、大規模な反戦デモが繰り広げられていた1968年の新宿を記録した写真集です。当時のムードが伝わってくる写真の数々ですが、すでに半世紀以上が経ったいま、街の様相は大きく変わっていることにも気付かされます。今回は写真と同じ場所をいくつか訪れて、そこで起こっていたことを想像してみようと思っています。またこの写真集の中にも書かれていますが、フォークゲリラと呼ばれた集会が開かれていた新宿西口「広場」が「通路」になり、滞留することができなくなった、という経緯は都市の使い方を考える上でも重要。今の路上ライブの規制とも通ずるものがあると思うので、その辺りも話せたら！途中参加・途中離脱もちろんOK！誰も来なくてもトモトシ1人でやってみます。
On Saturday, March 2, we will do “Revisiting WATANABE Hitomi’s ‘1968 SHINJUKU’. ‘1968 SHINJUKU’ is a collection of photographs taken in Shinjuku in 1968, the year of the large-scale anti-war demonstrations. The mood of the time is conveyed in these photos, but we are also reminded that more than half a century has already passed, and the appearance of the city has changed drastically. This time, I would like to visit some of the same places as in the photographs and try to imagine what was happening there. Of course, you are welcome to join or leave during the event!
