개요:
도시를 걷다가 문득 신발을 벗고 싶다는 충동을 느낀 적이 있나요? 하지만 공공장소의 보이지 않는 규범은 우리가 그런 행동을 좀처럼 실행에 옮기지 못하게 만듭니다.
이번 워크숍에서는 명품 브랜드와 세심하게 관리된 이미지로 잘 알려진 청담동을 맨발로 걸어봅니다. 연약하고 무방비한 발을 매끈하게 정돈된 거리 위에 직접 내딛으며, 우리는 도시가 사용자에게 요구하는 보이지 않는 질서에서 잠시 벗어나고자 합니다.
맨발로 걷는 것은 금지된 행위가 아닙니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이상할 만큼 쉽게 상상되지 않습니다. 도시의 질감과 온도, 그리고 물리적 현실을 발로 직접 경험하며, 우리는 충격을 피하는 대신 그것을 받아들이는 방식으로 Shock Resistant를 몸으로 실험해 볼 것입니다.
이러한 작은 개입을 통해 도시의 규칙이 어떻게 우리의 신체에 영향을 미치는지, 그리고 도시를 이동하는 또 다른 방식이 어떻게 등장할 수 있는지를 함께 탐구합니다.
본 워크숍은 토모토시의 한국 첫 개인전 《Shock Resistant》의 연계 프로그램으로 진행되며, 《Shock Resistant Practices — Seoul》의 첫 번째 에디션입니다.
중간 참여와 도중 이탈은 언제든 가능합니다. 한국에서 처음 시도하는 데다 공지도 다소 급하게 이루어져 아무도 오지 않을 수도 있습니다. 그땐 저 혼자 맨발로 걸어보겠습니다.

Overview:
Have you ever wanted to take off your shoes while walking through the city?
In this workshop, we will walk barefoot through Cheongdam-dong, a district known for luxury brands and carefully curated appearances. By placing our bare feet on its polished streets, we will briefly step outside the choreography the city expects from its users.
Walking barefoot is not forbidden, yet almost nobody does it. By exposing our feet directly to the textures, temperatures, and frictions of the city, we will test a simple Shock Resistant practice—not by avoiding impact, but by learning how to receive it.
This workshop is presented in conjunction with Shock Resistant, Tomotosi’s first solo exhibition in South Korea, and marks the first edition of Shock Resistant Practices — Seoul.
Feel free to join at any point or leave whenever you like. Since this is a last-minute first attempt in Korea, nobody might show up. If so, I’ll happily walk barefoot alone.
